Mayor Tarah Probst endorsed by AFL-CIO for Pennsylvania’s 189th House District
Stroudsburg, PA (August 23, 2022) – Stroudsburg Mayor Tarah Probst, Democratic nominee for Pennsylvania’s House District 189, today announced her endorsement by the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, the largest federation of labor unions in the state. The endorsement by the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, which represents 51 affiliated Labor Unions and approximately 700,000 union members, follows a previously announced endorsement by the The Pennsylvania State Education Association's Political Action Committee for Education—providing Mayor Probst major grassroots support entering the General Election.
“This endorsement,” said Pennsylvania AFL-CIO President Angela Ferritto, “is extended in recognition of Mayor Tarah Probst’s consistent support of policies that advance organized Labor’s ongoing efforts to improve the lives of Pennsylvania families.”
The endorsement by the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO for Probst comes after a candidate must receive an affirmative vote of more than two-thirds to secure the endorsement of the state federation, illustrating the united labor backing for Mayor Tarah Probst for HD 189.
“I am honored to receive the endorsement from the AFL-CIO and will do everything in my power to protect worker’s rights, prevailing wages, and the ideals of Pennsylvania’s labor movement,” said Mayor Probst. “Organized labor provides apprenticeships and job opportunities that produce a skilled Pennsylvania workforce. Union workers create quality products with quality wages, are the lifeblood of our economy, and are the path to rebuilding the middle-class in this district and the rest of Pennsylvania.”
Tarah Probst, the first woman to hold the position of Mayor in Stroudsburg’s 200-year history, is an East Stroudsburg native, was recently re-elected Stroudsburg Mayor with 70% of the vote, and is the Democratic nominee for Pennsylvania’s 189th House district.
