An elected official in Monroe County wants to take her experience with local politics to the Pennsylvania Senate.
On Thursday night, Stroudsburg Mayor Tarah Probst announced her 2018 run for the 40th Senatorial District. That seat is currently held by Senator Mario Scavello…
Probst has served as mayor of Stroudsburg for two years. She was recently re-elected to another four-year term.
“I’m the mayor of Stroudsburg. I will continue to be the mayor of Stroudsburg. I owe that to my constituents–they’ve been so good to me. But now I’m taking it to a whole other level and I’m not just going to help Stroudsburg, I’m going to help all of Monroe and Northampton Counties,” said Mayor Probst Thursday night.
State Representative Maureen Madden was on hand to pledge her support for Probst.
“I’m going to fight really hard for Tarah. I’m going to work for her and we’re going to get the message out that Tarah is the leadership we need in the 40th District,” said Madden.
Democrat Probst will face incumbent candidate–Republican Senator Mario Scavello–in next year’s general election.
